According to the Federation of Turkish Food and Drink Industry Associations (TGDF) statement, the federation shared the ‘2020 Foreign Trade Data Report’ with the public.
According to the report published based on the General Trade System (GTS), exports increased by 5 percent to $20.7 billion in 2020 compared to the previous year, while imports increased by 3.1 percent to $16.1 billion.
The foreign trade balance of the sector in 2020 increased by 12.1 percent compared to the same period the previous year, reaching 4.6 billion dollars, according to the information provided in the statement, calculations that include all GTIP items between chapters 01 and 24 and selected products from chapters 29 and 35.
While monthly imports in November and December increased above the yearly average, the foreign trade balance was lower than the previous months of the year.
The export unit value increased by 3.7 percent in 2020 compared to the previous year, and the import unit value increased by 5.7 percent to 498 dollars/ton.
